Digital art museum shows over 9k Filipino artworks, including Battle of Bataan

MANILA, Philippines — This Day of Valor, Filipinos can see relevant collections and online exhibits on Google Arts & Culture from various photos, paintings and even virtual tours. Currently, there are over 9,000 pieces of local art by Filipino art groups and individuals on the website.
Some of the collections that are available on the website are the historical battle of Bataan, a close look at “The Filipino Story” and “The booming street art scene: Filipino Street Art Project,” among others. Read more…

As the end of the Battle of Bataan in the Philippines neared its end, soldiers were not giving up. They had plenty of ammunition to fight one enemy but ultimately not enough to fight the other – malaria.

Filipinos urged to unite, echo war veterans' bravery in COVID-19 fight

MANILA - Filipinos must unite and echo the bravery and resilience of war veterans as the country marks Thursday the Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) at a time when the country is battling the COVID-19 pandemic, officials said Wednesday.
In a statement, Undersecretary Ernesto Carolina, administrator of the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO), urged the public to honor veterans whose "heroic courage and sheer determination led to the triumph of the Filipino people" during the wartime period. Read more…
Araw ng Kagitingan event canceled, Veterans Week postponed

The Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) announced on Monday that the commemoration activities of Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) have been canceled while the 2020 Philippine Veterans Week have been postponed amid the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.
In an advisory, PVAO said the cancellation and postponement of events were aimed at ensuring the safety of the veterans from the threats posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Read more…
