Twin 26th Cavalry (PS) Monuments at Ft. Riley, Kansas and Ft. Stotsenburg, Pampanga, Philippines

The 26th Cavalry (PS) monument at Ft. Riley was dedicated in 1942. A nearly identical one was dedicated at Ft. Stotsenburg in 1945.

Memorare-Manila 1945 monument in Intramuros

Unveiled in 1995, the Memorare – Manila 1945 Monument commemorates the lives lost during the battle for the liberation of Manila, waged by Filipino and American forces against Imperial Japanese troops from February 3, 1945, to March 3, 1945.

Battle of Layac Junction Monument

A monument at Layac Junction on Bataan commemorating the WWII battle fought there. Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. Jose Calugas, Sr. is depicted manning a machine gun.

 

Wreath Laying at MacArthur Park

October 25, 2006. Wreath Laying ceremony by Ret. Col. Ortega, Dr. Jenny L. Batongmalaque (executive Director of the Filipino Veterans) with Consul Helen Barber. National Anthems of the US and Philippines musical rendition were played by Honor Guard officer Teddy Ortega with his flute.

San Antonio Memorial Plaque Dedications

September 26-27, 2003. Twin plaques honoring the Philippine Scouts and the three Scout Medal of Honor recipients were dedicated on Friday, September 26, 2003 at the Admiral Nimitz Museum in Fredericksburg, Texas and on Saturday, September 27, 2003 at the Fort Sam Houston Museum in San Antonio, Texas.

PS History Exhibit in Veterans Memorial Museum (Huntsville, AL)

Mid-December 2005. A Philippine Scouts History exhibit was donated to the Veterans Memorial Museum in Huntsville, Alabama and dedicated in memory of Major Eriberto Caranto, 57th Infantry (PS). Photo and exhibit arrangements were by CWO4 Aniceto Bagley, a former Philippine Scout First Sergeant.

 

2005 Bataan Memorial Death March

March 2005. This annual event at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico honors Bataan vets and draws about 4,000 participants from most of the states of the Union. Provided by Celso Aurelio

2006 Patriotism Award

April 6, 2006. The Philippine Scouts were presented the 2006 Patriotism Award by the National Japanese American Memorial Foundation awards ceremony and dinner in Washington, D.C. on April 6, 2006.

USAFFE defenders of Bataan and Corregidor

May 6, 2007. Buhay Ng Kasaysayan (BNK) re-enacting the USAFFE defenders of Bataan and Corregidor at Ft. MacArthur, San Pedro, CA.

Lt. Nininger’s Ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery

May 2010. Lieutenant Alexander Nininger, Jr., is remembered at Arlington National Cemetery. He was killed in action on Bataan and his remains have yet to be found. He was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. Video courtesy of Victor Verano.

Clark Veterans Cemetery

We have over 650 Scouts buried in Clark more than what is buried in the Manila American Cemetery only one maintained by the ABMC.

 

Col. Ramsey's Interment at Arlington National Cemetery

June 28, 2013. Colonel Edwin Ramsey is interred at Arlington National Cemetery and remembered with a brief ceremony in Alexandria, VA.

Spirit of ‘45 Event

August 10, 2013. The Nininger Chapter made a great showing at the Spirit of '45 Event and thanks to Robert Tidwell, Colin Tidwell, Jun Mislang, Andrew Mislang, Monty Hom, Michael Moore, April Moore and Louis Cogut for being able to participate.

2019 Bataan Memorial Death March
